The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Ltd has strongly refuted claims made in a viral video alleging that its fuel does not last. Describing the assertion as false and misleading, NNPC dismissed it as unverified and lacking professional credibility.
In a statement signed by its Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Olufemi O. Soneye, NNPC reaffirmed that its fuel is formulated with high-quality components to ensure efficiency, durability, and environmental sustainability.
The company also clarified that a significant portion of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) sold at NNPC retail stations in Lagos—where the video originated—is sourced from the Dangote Refinery. As a strategic partner, Dangote Refinery adheres to strict industry standards, ensuring the quality of petroleum products supplied to consumers.

NNPC described the viral video as an attempt by “economic saboteurs” to misinform the public and tarnish the company’s reputation. It warned that it would take legal action against individuals or groups spreading falsehoods about its operations.
“We will not tolerate deliberate misinformation designed to undermine our operations and mislead Nigerians. Those engaged in such malicious activities will be held accountable under the law,” the statement read.
The company urged the public to disregard unverified content and rely on credible sources for accurate information. It reiterated its commitment to ensuring fuel availability, affordability, and quality while maintaining global industry standards.
