The newly appointed Executive Secretary of the Kano State Consumer Protection Council (KSCPC) and other council members have been urged to prioritize public service over personal gain and ensure consumer safety across the state.

The Director-General of the Drugs and Medical Consumables Supply Agency (DMCSA), Pharm. Gali Sule, gave this charge on Monday while addressing the appointees as they assumed office, accompanied by friends and well-wishers.

As a former Executive Secretary of KSCPC (2014–2017), he encouraged the new leadership to collaborate with relevant regulatory bodies, including the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON), the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (PCN), and the State Ministry of Health, to strengthen consumer protection in Kano.

Expressing concern over ongoing violations of consumer rights, the DG assured the public that the newly constituted council, which includes representatives from the business community, would work diligently to safeguard their interests.

In his remarks, the new Executive Secretary of the Council, Alhaji Zangina Jafaru, solicited the cooperation and support of all staff and stakeholders. He warned that business would not continue as usual under his leadership, signaling a commitment to reforms.
