Ganduje, APC NWC Receive Nwoko, Plan Major Push for Delta 2027

In a major political development, Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North Senatorial District, has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The announcement was made during Wednesday’s plenary session, where Senate President Godswill Akpabio read Nwoko’s defection letter. The senator attributed his decision to deep divisions and factional disputes within the PDP at both state and national levels, which he said had hindered unity and effective representation of Delta State.

At the APC national secretariat in Abuja, the party’s National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, formally received Nwoko, expressing confidence that his entry would bolster the party’s chances in Delta State ahead of the 2027 general elections. Ganduje reaffirmed APC’s commitment to working with Nwoko and other stakeholders to consolidate its political influence in the state.

“We are happy to receive you into our great and nationalistic party. We want a highly organized APC in Delta, and we promise to work with you. We believe in national unity, integrity, and providing for Nigerians, and we have internal democracy,” Ganduje stated.

He added that President Bola Tinubu’s economic policies were yielding positive results, assuring Nwoko of the party’s full cooperation. A mega rally will be held in Delta State at a later date to formally welcome Nwoko and other defectors.

Nwoko, in his remarks, said his defection was driven by his commitment to ensuring APC’s victory in Delta State in 2027. He noted that he was not given the opportunity to serve his constituents effectively under the PDP.

“I was elected to make a difference in Delta, but I wasn’t given that opportunity. I believe in serving the people, and I wasn’t getting that chance in PDP Delta. I know what needs to be done to win elections in Delta, and I will work with others to ensure APC takes over the state in the next election,” he said.
