Ahmad Hamisu Gwale, a teenage sports journalist with Premier Radio Kano, has been named the Best Radio Sports Presenter of 2024 by the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Kano Chapter.
Gwale, the youngest recipient of the prestigious award, was honored at the launch of the 2025 SWAN Kano Calendar, held on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Secretariat, Kano.
The event was attended by key stakeholders in Kano’s sports and media sectors, including Sharif Rabiu Inuwa Ahlan, Chairman of Kano State Football Association; Professor Abdurrashid Garba, Chancellor of Khairun University; Alhaji Isyaku Tofa; and Baba Halilu Dantiye, former Kano State Commissioner for Information.

Gwale’s Journalism Journey and Achievements
Born in Kano, Ahmad Hamisu Gwale began his journalism career at Freedom Radio in 2021 before joining Premier Radio 102.7 FM Kano in 2023 as a broadcast journalist. He is also the publisher of the Independent Mirror, an online newspaper.
At Premier Radio, Gwale became widely known as the presenter of Zauran Wasanni, a popular sports program. His commitment to sports journalism, investigative reporting, and grassroots sports development has earned him this prestigious recognition.
Beyond broadcasting, Gwale serves as the Media Officer for Barau Football Club, a Nigeria National League (NNL) side. His dedication to sports reporting, news analysis, and documentary production has positioned him as a leading voice in Kano’s media industry.
