The Head of Civil Service in Kano State, Alhaji Abdullahi Musa, has directed all ministries and organizations affected by the recent retirement of Permanent Secretaries to assign their most senior Directors to oversee the responsibilities of those offices.

This was disclosed in a press statement signed by the Director of Public Enlightenment in the Office of the Head of Civil Service (HoS), Malam Aliyu Yusuf.

The statement explained that the directive follows the retirement of several Permanent Secretaries in line with the revised Kano State Pension and Gratuity (Amended No. 5) Law 2024.

According to a circular signed by the Head of Service, the amended law, which took effect on December 31, 2024, abolished the extension of retirement for civil servants. This development has affected several Permanent Secretaries across various ministries and organizations in the state.

The Head of Service emphasized the importance of ensuring continuity in the management of key offices, mandating that senior Directors, based on rank, should assume responsibility until the Government appoints new Permanent Secretaries.

The statement also highlighted that the Permanent Secretary is the highest position within the civil service structure in Kano State and across Nigeria.
