Kano Govt Demolishes Illegal Structures At Kwankwasiyya City

The Kano State Government has demolished five illegal structures at Kwankwasiyya City.

The State Task Force on Development Control, under the Ministry of Land and Physical Planning, carried out the demolition.

Speaking to journalists on Friday, Task Force Secretary , Hamid Sidi Ali said the demolished structures were built without proper permits and encroached on government-reserved land.

“The Task Force is committed to ensuring compliance with building regulations and land use laws. We conduct regular inspections across the state to identify and address illegal structures.”

Ali further clarified the process of enforcement, stating, “We issue multiple warnings before taking any action. However, in cases of illegal land occupation, immediate action is taken.”

He added, “We have been going around the state, marking illegal structures and issuing notices. We’ve informed the public that those who refuse to comply with building regulations will face consequences.”

“The Task Force’s operation at Kwankwasiyya City targeted structures that violated building regulations and encroached on government-reserved areas. The goal is to restore the original layout of the estate, which was developed by former Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.”

“The government’s efforts to maintain order and ensure proper urban development have received widespread support from residents and community leaders, including the House of Assembly Chair.”
