In a bid to combat insecurity in the country, the Minister of state for Defence, Bello Matawalle, urged for more media involvement in the positive efforts of armed forces in fighting insecurity.
Bello Matawalle stated this during the Association of Media and Communication Researchers of Nigeria (AMCRON) 4th International Conference held at the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies, University of Abuja.
He said the military remains steadfast in its commitment to tackling multifaceted security threats, including Boko Haram insurgency, banditry, kidnapping for ransom, and oil and pipeline vandalism, among other significant issues.

The Minister of state for Defence, represented by his Principal Private Secretary, Lawal Umar Maradun, fnipr said the Defence Ministry commends the media for the robust coverage of the recent operations to eliminate the activities of criminals disturbing the peace in the Northwest state.
He pledges to create a space of partnering between security agencies and the media while upholding the principles of truth, integrity, and professionalism.
The event for this year’s AMCRON conference themed “Contending Issues in National Security and the Role of the Media”, explores critical issues surrounding national security and the pivotal role of the media in shaping public perception.
