A memorial lecture has been held in Bayero University Kano to honour the engineering icon Engr. Ibrahim Khaleel Inuwa who spent all his life in contributing to the profession from the 70s to 2020.
In his speech the Managing Director Rural Electrification Agency (REA), Alhaji Abba Abubakar Aliyu said the contribution of late Engr. Ibrahim Khaleel Inuwa will not be forgotten especially the positive projects he has left behind.
Abba Abubakar Aliyu said there is need for the upcoming engineers to emulate his good work, and give their quota in electricity market which is already being taking away by non engineers in the country.

The Managing Director REA further said Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) needs to work extra hard and advocate for curriculum reform in their institutions to accommodate other important parts of today’s electricity business that are available in the market.
“The question is why other professionals that are not engineers are taking away your job, the answers of course are so many but, you can only continue to lead and innovate ensuring the country’s electricity sector meets both current demands and future challenges if you want to be relevant.
“As a Managing Director/CEO of this great agency, also a non engineer we can collectively increase collaboration with industries and other critical stakeholders to change the narratives which will go a long way in achieving the needed results”, Managing Director REA.
Speaking earlier in his paper presentation titled Nigerian Electricity Market, Challenges and Opportunities, Executive Director Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC), Engr. Abdullahi Kassim advise other stakeholders in the electricity market to do the needful in providing sustainable energy in Nigeria.
Abdullahi Kassim said this will be achieve if there is synergy between the agencies concern to put hands in mitigating the root cause of power shortage.
“The electricity value chain comprise of the Gn generation, transmission and distribution, so anyone here need to do his part.
“Considering our number of over 200 million people, yet we are unable to provide more than 14,00 mega watts, which in average we need about 26,00 mega watts”, Engr. Abdullahi Kassim.
In her remark, President Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Engr. Margaret Aina Oguntala appreciates the Kabuga Branch of Engineers of organizing the 6th Annual Lecture, in the memory of Engr. Ibrahim Khaleel Inuwa.
Aina Oguntala said the Nigerian Society of Engineers would continue to support the idea and cherish the good legacies of the deceased.
Represented by the Deputy President of NSE, Engr. Ali Rabi’u, added that honouring this gentle man for his contribution to the profession would no doubt ginger younger generation to emulate from him.
“Students and other younger generations need to give out their utmost best in coming up with new innovations, proper solutions to many challenges as professionals so that one day they will be remembered”, Engr. Ali Rabi’u.
In his address, Chairman Nigerian Society of Engineers Kabuga Branch, Professor Ibrahim Abdullahi reiterated their commitment toward addressing the challenges facing the engineering society, so that their expertise will count in directing the country.
The memorial lecture of late IK Inuwa who was the 16th President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers and former Kano State Commissioner for Rural and Community Development, was attended by many dignitaries and families of the deceased.
