Five Children Suffocated to Death in Niger

 

The Police Command in Niger state has confirmed a heartbreaking incident where five children found suffocated inside a locked car.

Wasiu Abiodun, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) affirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday.

The Kpakungu Division Office of the Police Command received a distressing report around 6.30 p.m. on Sunday, indicating that five children, aged between five and 13 years, were trapped inside a Honda Civic vehicle with registration No. GO 778 ABC at Gurara Albishir area of Minna.

According to Mr. Abiodun, the children were discovered to have suffocated in the vehicle, and their bodies were subsequently removed by their respective parents as the police arrived at the scene.

The owner of the vehicle has been summoned for questioning, with investigations ongoing into the matter.

Meanwhile, an anonymous source in the neighborhood revealed that the children inadvertently locked themselves in the car, which had been abandoned for over two years by its owner. The parents made the tragic discovery on Sunday evening after an extensive search in the vicinity.

The victims included four females and a male, comprising three siblings and two children from different families, including the child of the car owner.
