APC Declares Ondo Gov Primary Election Inconclusive, To Hold Poll In 13 Okitipupa Wards Sunday

The leadership of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared the Ondo State Governorship Primary Election inconclusive.

The polls held in the state on Saturday were said to be inclusive following the late arrival of materials and personnel to 13 wards in Okitipupa council area of the state.

The party has therefore rescheduled the election for today (Sunday), April, 21, 2024, according to a statement issued by the Chairman of the Ondo Primary Election Committee, Alhaji Ahmed Ododo.

Ododo is the Governor of Kogi State.

Sixteen governorship aspirants participated in the exercise conducted by a seven-member committee, headed by the Kogi governor.

The statement reads: “Having received reports of the primary election from the 203 Wards in the 18 Local Governments of Ondo State, the Primary election Committee has decided that election will be conducted in all the 13 Wards of Okitipupa Local Government with total validated registered members of 9,515.”

The party added that the primary election was declared inconclusive because of validated reports that the exercise was not held in the local government area due to the late arrival of materials and personnel.

“The final collation of the results will be done thereafter.

“Election in Okitipupa Local Government shall be conducted 12 noon on Sunday 21st April 2024,” he said.

SaharaReporters had earlier reported how some stakeholders in the governorship primary election cried foul over how the election committee handled the process.

The aggrieved party members alleged that the committee headed by Ododo was biassed in the assignment.

Ododo who arrived in the state on Saturday morning, addressed some of the aggrieved stakeholders at the distribution centre in the Ijapo area of Akure, saying the electoral materials had been sent to the Ondo South and South-North Senatorial Districts remaining that of the Ondo Central (as of 10.30am).
