Gunmen Strike Again, Kidnap Another Set of 87 Persons in Kaduna

At least 87 people have been reportedly kidnapped by gunmen in Kajuru community, Kajuru LGA of Kaduna state.

Punch reports some residents as saying that the assailants attacked the community on Sunday night.

The gunmen were also said to have looted several shops.

Mansir Hassan, Kaduna police spokesperson, did not respond to calls and text messages on the incident.

Meanwhile, Christopher Musa, chief of defence staff, met with Uba Sani, governor of Kaduna, on Monday, over the uptick in kidnappings in the state.

Speaking at the meeting held at the Kaduna government house, Musa said the attacks are “temporary”.

“We are here to show solidarity to this community, so that you would know that whatever you are going through, we are also going through it,” he said.

“We assure you that God almighty is on our side, and whatever we are going through is just temporal.

“And the problem is as a result of people who don’t want development for this country. But that development would take place.

“We are working tirelessly to make sure that all those kidnapped will be safeguarded and brought out as quickly as possible.”
