“Justice Should Not be Reserved for Few Privilege”, Gov. Yusuf Tells New Judges, Khadis

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf cautioned the newly appointed Judges and Shari’a court of Appeal Khadis that justice must be served to all regardless of social status in the society.

Besides, the Governor had reminded that appointment of the new heads of courts devoid of any political affiliation but rather based on merit.

The Governor gave the advise on Friday while presiding the inauguration of nine state high Court Judges and four Sharia Court of Appeal Khadis.

According to Yusuf, ” Your new position should be seen as a call to duty and justice. But Justice should not be a privilege preserved for a few, but a right for all under your stewardship “.

He reminded the judiciary officers of the need to live up to the oaths they have taken while appealing to them to be fair to all and apply justice and equity to all manner of people.

“It is a responsibility that demands not only legal expertise but also profound understanding, sympathy and commitment to preserving the fundamental principles upon which our legal system is built.

“It is essential that we create an enabling environment for our judiciary and the legal system which must be a creation of hope by ensuring that justice is not a privilege preserved for the few but a right accessible to all” Gov Abba stated.

The Governor has set the record of appointing five female justices out of the nine appointed for the first time in the state while also setting another record of appointing all the Khadis who are not just learned in the Sharia but are also law graduates in order to enhance professionalism.

Those who took the oath of office as State High Court Justices include Fatima Adamu, Hauwa Lawal, Musa Ahmad, Musa Dahuru Muhammad and Farida Rabiu. Others are Aisha Mahmud, Halima Nasir, Adam Abdullahi and Haneef Sanusi Yusuf.

More so, those who took an oath of office as Khadis of Sharia Appeal Courts are Muhammad A. Khademi, Salisu Ahmad Isah, Isah Idris Sa’id and Muhammad Kani.
