The Kano State has taken a step to address the lack of potable water in the state.
The Commissioner of Kano State Ministry of Water Resources, Ali Bukar Makoda, stated this during a stakeholder meeting on water construction reform.
Makoda said the aim is to ensure that communities have access to potable water that is quality and safe for drinking.
Represented by the Director of Administration and General Services of the Ministry, Comrade Bala Baba, this administration is passionate about minimizing the lingering issues in the water industry to reduce water suffering faced by many areas many years ago.

Speaking earlier, the Chairman of the Taskforce on Water Well Construction Reform, Bello Adamu Takai, said the essence of the committee is to sanitize and regulate indiscriminate drilling of boreholes in the metropolis, considering the negative effects of the rampant practices.
Takai reiterates that there is a need for the government to expand the level of advocacy to mitigate the incessant practice by non-members of the drilling association.
In his comment, the Managing Director of Water Board Engr Garba Ahmad said the administration of Abba Kabir Yusuf has already changed the past narrative of lack of water supply in the state, and efforts to regulate the activities of well water construction and other related matters are underway.
Participants from NAFDAC, Hadejia Jama’are River Basin Development Authority (HJRBDA), Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and Nigerian Police deliberated during the meeting.
