Photos: Kano CJ Inaugurate Committees to Enhance Judiciary’s Role in Justice Dispensation

The Kano State Chief Judge , Justice Dije Abdu Aboki Tuesday inaugurated three committees to enhance the pivotal role of the judiciary in dispensation of justice in the state.

In her speech, at the inauguration ceremony of the committees, the Kano Chief Judge said the committees  established after thorough brainstorming and deliberation to reflects dedication to excellence continuous learning, responsiveness and attentiveness to the requirements of the community.

According to her, the Three committees include: Performance Evaluation Committee, Training Committee and Judiciary Public Complaints Committee.

The Jurist, also said Magistrate are the integral to the delivery of justice stating that primary aim of committee is to ensure accountability and excellence.

She further said the Committee will be tasked with the crucial responsibility of evaluating the performance of Magistrates.

He explained that, the committee will contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of judicial system, “By this, we aim to maintain the highest of judicial conduct through measures aim at improving the quality of justice dispense by court as well as its efficacy”

The aim and objectives of the committee is to ensure consistent delivery of swift and high quality judicial services by assessing the adherence of Magistrate to establish legal standard and ethical principles.

The Chief Judge noted that Justice Farouk Lawan Adamu will lead the committee and deputized by Justice Hadiza Suleiman.

Speaking on the Training Committee, she said its imperative that judicial officers as well as court staff to stay abreast of latest legal development and acquire the skill necessary to meet the challenges of the present time.

She added that with the rapid advancement in legal framework, technology and evolving societal needs, noting that it is good for judges, Magistrates and all court staff to be equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to navigate these complexities.

The Training Committee in the realisation of its objectives will collaborate with other relevant bodies outside kano State judiciary for the purpose of designing and providing effective training module in the various areas of training that will be identified.

 

Justice Aboki added that the Training committee, under the leadership of Justice Yusuf Ubale and deputized by Justice Aisha Mahmud will work diligently and come up with programs that not only meets but exceeds our expectations.

According to the Chief Judge of  Kano State, Judiciary and Public Complaint Committee established to strengthening judicial integrity and confidence system which requires public perception of the Courts.

She emphasized that miscarriage of justice must be timeousiy addressed for Public confidence to be maintained, stressing that the right to complain of abuse of power by the Courts and the availability of complain mechanism that is imperative.

She pointed out that the committee is established under the power of the Judicial Service Commission, JSC as enshrined in the constitution of the Third schedule Section 197, part iic and section 5 of 1999 of constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria with vested the JSC with the power to create sub committees among others.
