Gov. Yusuf Mulls Establishment of Kano Elders Council, Ganduje, Kwankwaso, Shekarau Foundation Members.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf on Saturday has said his administration has concluded plan to establish a Kano Elders Council in the state.

According to the Governor, the new council which would serve as an advisory body to the administration will draw membership from ex-Governors and their Deputies.

Gov. Yusuf announced the plan in Abuja on Saturday while addressing journalists.

When fully established, the presidential candidate of New Nigeria Peoples Party NNPP during the 2023 general election, Dr. Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, National Chairman, All Progressives Congress (APC) Dr. Abdullah Umar Ganduje and former senator, representing Kano Central, Mal. Ibrahim Shekarau would automatically form a pioneer members.

Other members also cut across past speakers and Deputies, past Senate President and Deputy who are from Kano, retired chief judges, retired CJN (If any), retired Supreme Court Justices, retired Appeal Court justices and Islamic leaders, among others.

The governor reiterated his commitment to continue running an open government to carry everyone along, in the new drive of a modern Kano.

Although, it is not clear whether or not the past chief executives would accept to buried their ideology to work together in the interest of Kano growth, the new move not be unconnected with the purported reconciliation and agreement between APC and NNPP.
