KHETFUND Supports School of Health Technology With Over N17M For Accreditation

In continued effort to exercising one of its mandates that is supporting health educational institutions, the Kano State Health Trust Fund (KHETFUND) has provided fund amounting to N17,720,000 to the Kano State School of Health Technology in the process of accreditation some of its courses.

KHETFUND was established purposely to provide additional funds to the health sector with a view to improving the quality of healthcare services in the facilities and health educational institutions for the overall well-being of the people of the state.

To ensure everything goes as planned for the successful accreditation of medical laboratory courses, National Diploma and Higher National Diploma as well as Pharmacy courses, the Executive Secretary of the Agency, Dr. Fatima Usman Zahradeen, has led the monitoring team of the KHETFUND to supervise the utilization of the fund they supported the school with for successful accreditation.

Speaking shortly after the supervision, Dr. Fatima commended the giant strides of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf in revitalizing the healthcare system of the state, emphasizing that His Excellency accords topmost consideration to the sector through which enormous achievements have been recorded within the shortest period of time.

She buttressed that it is the commitment of the peoples’ Governor that energizes them (the heads of health agencies) to become relentless and work to the best of their abilities to tip into the toes of His Excellency in actualizing the promises he made to the good people of Kano on health.

The Executive Secretary charged the management of the school to ensure smooth and hitch free conduct of the accreditation exercise, a step that would pave the way for having students with prerequisite knowledge to effectively run health facilities when employed as aspiring for by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and people of the state.

She enthusiastically averred that the resources needed for the accreditation have been provided, urging them to ensure transparency and accountability in the utilization, because the duo were part of the most important guiding principles of the KHETFUND, hoping and praying that the courses would scale through by the accreditation team.

Dr. Fatima revealed that accessing funds from the KHETFUND through the beneficiary health educational institutions and facilities for executing meaningful projects and programmes was not difficult, pointing out that the procedures were clearly spelled out in the beneficiary guide of the Agency recently unveiled.

She then lauded Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf for his fatherly advices and moral guidances in the course of discharging their responsibilities, describing him as man of focus, dedication and endurance, who is committed to see to the stabilization and improvement of the health sector as yearned for by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

Speaking while receiving the delegation, the Vice Principal of the school eulogized KHETFUND for the kind intervention, assuring that the fund would be judiciously utilized according to the purpose it was meant for.

He stated that the Medical Lab Science Course had been accredited by the Accreditation Team from the MLS Council, which visited the school on 15th of September 2023, and also concluded its arrangements for the successful conduct of accreditation of the remaining courses including ND, HND and Pharmacy, hoping that the exercise would succeed.

He commended Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf for the heartwarming touch he attached to the health sector and the people-oriented projects he has been executing across the state.
