Kano Anti-Corruption Boss to Face Trial Jan 10 Over Corruption Charges

The chairman of Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Graft Commission, Muhuyi Magaji, is set to face trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) on January 10, 2024.

The Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) has arraigned Magaji Nov 17, on a 10-count charge of corruption, including offenses such as breach of the code of conduct for public officers, conflict of interest, abuse of office, false asset declaration, bribery, and accepting gifts.

Mrs. Veronica Kato, the head of press and public relations at the Code of Conduct Bureau, revealed that the Magaji was arraigned after he failed to declare some bank accounts bearing his name to the sum of N394 million thereby raising suspicion of corruption.

Magaji was granted bail with the sum of N5 million and is required to provide two sureties with properties within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Magaji’s arraignment took place on Thursday, November 17, 2023, at the CCT. The investigation into the Kano Anti-Graft Commission chairman uncovered alleged misconduct, prompting the legal action.

The accused is expected to appear before the Code of Conduct Tribunal on the scheduled date in 2024 to address the charges brought against him.
