Popular skit maker and comedian, Maryam Apaokagi, has announced her plans to launch a humanitarian foundation, the Maryam Apaokagi Initiative (MAI).
Apaokagi, whose popular stage name is Taaooma, confirmed this in Ilorin on Friday when she paid a courtesy call on the Senator representing the Kwara Central Senatorial District, Sen. Saliu Mustapha, at the latter’s residence.
Apaokagi, who reeled out various programmes and initiatives under the foundation, said the floating of the foundation was her own way of giving back to the society, starting first with Ilorin, her place of birth.

She therefore solicited the Senator’s hand of friendship and collaboration for the success of the launch and the overall progress of the initiative.
Responding, Sen. Mustapha commended Taaooma for the brilliant initiative and assured her of his support at all times to succeed and on any other area of collaboration.
Mustapha however charged the skit maker on value driven contents.
He harped on skits that would help stem the tide of drug abuse and other forms of criminality in the society.
Mustapha, who is the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, also highlighted the importance of vocational education for youths, emphasising its multiplier role in job creation. (NAN)
