Suspected political thugs on Tuesday morning, attacked the residence of a prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bayelsa State, Chief Diekivie Ikiogha, in the Kpansia area of Yenagoa, the state’s capital.
Reports indicate that around 2 am, the thugs hurled an explosive, believed to be dynamite, into the building.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident, but the explosive caused damage to the window panes in the vicinity where it landed within the compound.

“I heard a big explosion from this building around 2am last night. But I don’t know what caused it,” a resident, told Punch.
Chief Diekivie Ikiogha returned to the the PDP after several years as a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
His political journey saw him briefly join the Labour Party during the lead-up to the governorship elections in Bayelsa. In that period, he contested the primary election under the LP but was defeated by Udengs Eradiri, who became the LP governorship candidate.
