S’Court Adjourns PDP, LP Appeals Against Tinubu’s Election Victory

The Supreme Court has adjourned the appeals challenging the victory of President Bola Tinubu in the February 25th election.

President Tinubu, who ran as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, was declared the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

However, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) contested the election results, along with the candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM). Their appeals were dismissed by the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal.

Subsequently, the trio filed appeals with the Supreme Court. During the proceedings on Monday, Chukwuma Umeh, representing APM, applied to withdraw the suit after the apex court declined to grant their request to nullify President Tinubu’s election.

The PDP and LP continued to present their cases. A seven-member panel, led by Justice John Okoro, presided over the proceedings and announced that “This appeal is reserved for judgment until a date to be communicated to parties.”
