Over 330,000 Nigerians have applied for the Federal Government’s Three Million Technical Talent (3MTT) programme, as of the weekend.
The programme, spearheaded by the Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy under the leadership of Bosun Tijani, is a pivotal component of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda.
The 3MTT programme aims to create one million digital jobs for Nigerians, particularly the youth, aligning with President Tinubu’s inauguration commitment on May 29. Its ultimate goal is to develop Nigeria’s technical talent base to empower the digital economy and establish the nation as a significant talent exporter.

Consequently, in a blueprint on how the ministry would run in the next four years, Tijani disclosed a move to raise three million tech talents. According to the plan, phase one would target 30,000 trainees.
The minister noted that as of October 19, 330,713 Nigerians had applied for the positions, which opened on October 13, 2023.
Tijani said: “In line with the ministry’s one per cent -10 per cent -100 per cent implementation approach, this first phase will aim to train and place 30,000 technical talents, representing one per cent of our overall target. It will be executed based on the framework co-created with key stakeholders across government agencies, training providers, educational institutions, development agencies, and the private sector.”
Also, Lagos and Kano have been listed as the top two states from which the highest number of beneficiaries would be selected. While 2,040 will be picked from Lagos, 1,628 trainees will come from Kano State.
