The Supreme Court has refuted claims of casualties resulting from the fire outbreak that occurred in one of its chambers.
Festus Akande, the spokesperson of the Supreme Court, dispelled these allegations during an interview on Arise Television on Monday.
Akande said, “Since it wasn’t a serious issue, there was no point in evacuating people. The staff were fully on the ground and they moved in to douse the fire.”
Earlier on Monday, a section of the Supreme Court had experienced a fire incident.
The Supreme Court’s Public Relations Officer attributed the fire’s cause to an electrical issue within one of the Justices’ chambers, and it was promptly extinguished using fire extinguishers.

Akande firmly denounced the circulating stories on social media claiming casualties, labeling them as “fake news.”
Reports indicated that the cleaning staff on duty and some early-bird workers detected the fire and raised the alarm.
They effectively utilized the building’s fire extinguishers to combat the fire. Three offices, including that of Justice Mohammed Saulawa, were impacted by the fire.
