The Commissioner of Police in Kano State, Usaini Muhammed Gumel, has said that only 50 individuals were granted access to the court presiding over the petitions filed before the Kano Governorship Election Tribunal.
This statement comes in response to earlier reports of journalists being denied entry to the court premises, as previously covered by Daily Trust.
Commissioner Gumel, while speaking at the police command headquarters in Kano on Wednesday, said that it was the tribunal itself that imposed restrictions on the number of people permitted to enter the court.

He explained, “Since yesterday, we called the tribunal Secretary to hear arrangements for the sitting, where they informed us that only 50 people would be allowed in.
“This number includes the judges, lawyers representing the two parties and their associates, journalists, and media personnel. Therefore, it is not the police that limited the number.”
Commissioner Gumel reassured that comprehensive security measures had been implemented throughout the state to maintain peace during and after the judgment.
