Lagos Gov Calls for DSS Involvement in Mohbad’s Death Investigation

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has extended an invitation to the Department of State Services (DSS) to join the ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of the late music artist, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.

Mohbad’s untimely demise occurred last Tuesday, and he was laid to rest in Lagos’ Ikorodu area the following Wednesday, leaving family and admirers in a state of shock.

In an official statement released via his verified X platform (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, the governor, through his Chief Press Secretary, Gboyega Akosile, stated, “We have been closely working behind the scenes with relevant authorities, and keenly following the ongoing investigations.”

The statement continued, “However, in order to boost the investigations, I have invited the Department of State Services (DSS) to join the investigation and widen the dragnet with inter-agency collaboration and use of best-in-class technology to unearth the truth.”

Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized the importance of thorough investigation and stated, “I have instructed that all those who may have played any role whatsoever in any event leading to the death of MohBad be made to face the law after a thorough investigation.”

He further urged individuals who may possess vital information that could assist in the investigative process to come forward and cooperate with the investigative team.

Governor Sanwo-Olu also called for calm among friends and fans of the deceased, encouraging them to avoid making inflammatory statements and prejudicial conclusions regarding the matter.

He expressed his condolences to Mohbad’s family, friends, colleagues, and fans worldwide, wishing everyone “love and light” and praying for the departed artist’s soul to rest in peace.
