Police May Exhume Mohbad’s Body for Autopsy ‘if Need be’

The Lagos State Police Command has indicated that the body of the late rising artiste, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, could be exhumed for an autopsy if circumstances warrant such action.

The untimely demise of the 27-year-old musician has been surrounded by numerous allegations, with reports suggesting that he faced severe challenges after parting ways with his former record label.

Mohbad tragically passed away on a Tuesday after reportedly receiving injections for an ear infection. He was subsequently buried in Ikorodu, Lagos the following Wednesday.

However, on Thursday, a petition written by the late artiste on June 25, 2023, in which he alleged threats to his life by an individual named Samlarry and others, went viral.

In response to the growing controversies surrounding Mohbad’s death, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Police Command, conveyed the possibility of exhuming the musician’s body to aid the ongoing investigation.

During an interview with media personality Daddy Freeze, Hundeyin emphasized the commitment of the police command to leave no stone unturned in the quest to unravel the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s demise.

He stated, “The Force PRO issued a statement this evening saying that the investigation would commence. And that is what we are going to do. If need be, the body would be exhumed. It’s not too late. The body can be exhumed.

“An autopsy can be performed. The [Force PRO’s] statement also states that people should bring whatever information they have to the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State.”

Hundeyin further added, “That is because we don’t want to do hierarchy anymore. Take it to Force headquarters, bring it to Lagos State command, it doesn’t matter. We are going to harmonize it within ourselves and ensure that justice is done.”
