The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has stated that they are currently awaiting monies owed by world football governing body, FIFA, which are meant for the players of the Super Falcons.
According to the federation, each member of the Super Falcons’ squad is entitled to receive $60,000 for their advancement to the second round of the recently concluded Women’s World Cup held in Australia and New Zealand.
The Women’s World Cup, which concluded on August 20 in Sydney, saw Spain emerge as the winners, defeating England with a lone goal.
Addressing the issue of the Super Falcons’ entitlements from the 2023 Women’s World Cup, NFF’s Director of Media, Ademola Olajire, clarified that the federation had already settled the players’ match bonuses and allowances.
He further explained that the players would be paid accordingly once FIFA releases the funds.
Similar to the Super Falcons, South Africa’s Banyana Banyana, who also progressed to the round of 16 at the Women’s World Cup, are also awaiting their payments from FIFA.
