Atiku to Tinubu: How Did You Obtain University Degree with No Primary, Secondary Education?

Atiku Abubakar, the Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 general elections, has again raised doubts about the academic credentials of President Bola Tinubu.

Atiku, who is currently disputing the February 25th victory of President Tinubu in court, has challenged the authenticity of Tinubu’s degree certificate issued by Chicago State University, in the United States, saying the president’s academic record continues to be a major source of confusion.

Using his X (formerly Twitter) account, Atiku accused President Tinubu of bypassing primary and secondary education to directly enroll in Chicago State University.

Atiku alleged that in 1999, Tinubu claimed to have attended St. John’s Primary School in Lagos and later Children’s Home School in Ibadan.

However, Atiku pointed out that the President’s academic narrative has changed. According to him, in 2023, Tinubu reportedly stated that he solely attended Chicago State University, omitting any mention of primary and secondary schooling.

“I woke up this morning wondering how we got to this cul de sac. In 1999, @officialABAT claimed he attended St. John’s Primary School, Aroloya, Lagos, before proceeding to Children Home School in Ibadan.”

“According to him, his next port of call in his educational journey was Government College Ibadan and, Richard Daley College and Chicago State University in the United States.

“Curiously, in 2023, Tinubu settled with attending only @ChicagoState. I am scratching my head. How is that possible? Methinks that all well-meaning Nigerians should be as confused as I am with Tinubu’s declaration that he had no primary and secondary education, yet he has a university degree. You may wish to #AskTinubu how he attained this feat so that we can learn from his ingenuity -AA,” Atiku wrote.

Tinubu was officially declared the winner of the 2023 presidential election in March.

But Atiku has persistently contested the election’s outcome, taking the matter to the Presidential Election Petition Court, with his major being the President’s  academic record.

Additionally, he has sought the intervention of a United States court in Chicago, for an order compelling the Chicago State University (CSU) to release the academic records of Tinubu, an order which the university had obliged and confirmed Tinubu their alumni.
