JUST IN: Emefiele’s Arraignment Stalls Due to Co-Defendant’s Ill-Health

The arraignment of Godwin Emefiele, the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), faced a delay due to the ill-health of co-accused and a staff member of the apex bank, Sa’adatu Yaro.

Emefiele, along with Sa’adatu Yaro, a CBN staff, and her company, April 16 Investment Ltd., faced a 20-count charge including alleged procurement fraud and conferring of corrupt advantages on himself.

The proceedings took place at an FCT High Court.

During the hearing on Thursday, the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Abubakar Mohammed, informed the court that Yaro had fallen ill in the morning, rendering her unavailable for the arraignment.

Emefiele’s legal representative, Alabi Ajayi Esq, did not oppose the request for an adjournment.
