A member of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has been apprehended on the Lagos/Abeokuta Expressway while in possession of four kilograms of a prohibited substance identified as Marsh-Mallow.
The suspect reportedly admitted to intending to sell the illicit substance.
The arrest took place during a routine patrol on Saturday, August 12, 2023, led by Assistant Superintendent of Police Samuel Sunday and his team.

Acting on their instincts, the officers initiated a search of the suspect’s bag after intercepting him at Cement Bus Stop around 2:50 p.m.
Upon conducting the search, the law enforcement team uncovered the illicit drugs, prompting the immediate arrest of the suspect.

The arrested individual, Kelechi, 50, hailing from Abia State and attached to the NDLEA office at First Gate, Tin Can Island, Lagos, admitted during questioning that he had been given the four kilograms of Marsh-Mallow by his superior, identified as Odogwu, with instructions to sell the substance.
As part of the ongoing investigation, sources have hinted that the superior mentioned by the suspect would be invited to clarify the allegation as part of the ongoing investigation.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hudenyin, has confirmed the arrest when contacted.
