The Kano state government has revoked the certificates of all private schools operating within the state. This action comes into effect immediately.
Baba Abubakar Umar, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Private and Voluntary Institutions, made this announcement during a meeting with the proprietors of the private schools on Saturday.
Umar conveyed that in light of this development, all private schools are required to obtain new registration forms and complete them in order to secure new certificates.
According to hum, the decision is born out of the state government’s dedication to the purification of private school operations, aiming to ensure strict compliance with established laws and guidelines.
Umar urged the school proprietors to fulfill their responsibility of paying a 10 percent tax to the government in a timely manner to contribute to the advancement of the sector.
He emphasized that his return to the role of overseeing private schools is not intended to create intimidation, as he has no intention of victimizing anyone.

Furthermore, he highlighted his commitment to enforcing the closure of schools that violate the operational regulations of the state. This includes aspects such as equipment standards, operational environment, curriculum, and academic calendar.
Umar revealed that a comprehensive software solution has been developed to address concerns from various stakeholders, including the government, school proprietors, parents, and potential job seekers in the private school sector.
Representing the school proprietors, Muhammad Malam Adamu, Chairman of the National Association of Private School Owners in the Kano chapter, hailed this move as both remarkable and commendable.
