Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero has called on all Islamic clerics and Imams of Juma’ah mosques in Kano and beyond to devote special prayers during today’s (Friday) congregations for peace and tranquility to return to Niger Republic.
Prayer is needed, according to Alhaji Bayero, in order to “beseech the Almighty to restore harmony, guide our brothers in Niger Republic and end the suffering of the innocent citizens.”
In a statement issued on Thursday, by Abubakar kofar Naisa, the Chief Press Secretary to Kano Emirate Council, the 15th Fulani Emir of Kano also called upon the coup leaders to reflect on the teachings of peace, mutual respect, and brotherhood that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) commanded Muslims to adhere and resort to peaceful resolution of the conflict.

In these challenging times, it is incumbent upon us to seek the divine intervention of Allah (SWT) for the peaceful resolution of the ongoing conflict in Niger Republic. The spirit of unity, peace, and brotherhood that Islam teaches us must guide our thoughts, prayers, and actions.
We hereby urge all Islamic clerics and Imams of Juma’ah mosques in Kano and beyond to devote special prayers during their Friday congregations tomorrow, August 11, 2023, for peace and tranquility to return to Niger Republic. Let us beseech the Almighty to restore harmony, guide our brothers in Niger Republic and end the suffering of the innocent citizens.
To the warring factions in Niger Republic, I extend a humble appeal, in the spirit of Islam, good neighborliness and our common humanity.
Quran, the sacred scripture of our religion, teaches us, “If two parties among the Believers fall into a quarrel, make ye peace between them.” (Surah Al-Hujurat, 49:9). In the same spirit, I call upon you to reflect on the teachings of peace, mutual respect, and brotherhood that our beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) command us to adhere to.
Let us remember that conflict brings only sorrow and destruction, while peace nurtures prosperity and development. I humbly entreat all parties involved in the current conflict to embrace peace, engage in dialogue, and work towards a peaceful and equitable resolution.
May Allah (SWT) imbue everyone involved with the wisdom and patience needed to navigate this crisis. May He bring peace and prosperity back to Niger Republic and may He continue to guide and protect all of us.
