Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, on Tuesday, has inaugurated 30 new buses aimed at alleviating the hardship faced by commuters in the wake of the federal government’s subsidy removal.
The inauguration ceremony took place at the Yankari Transport Corporation office, where Governor Bala Mohammed addressed the audience.
He disclosed that this initiative was the result of a collaboration with an indigenous firm, which procured the buses for a total of N480 million. The cost will be settled in monthly installments of N20 million over a period of two years.
Mohammed said that the state government would also provide a number of public transport including tricycles and commercial motorcycles to create job opportunities for the citizens to address transportation challenges.

The governor added that the move was to create job opportunities and reduce the cost of inter-state transportation which is not affordable to many citizens.
