8 die, 15 injured in Jigawa auto crash

Auto accident in Jajimaji, Birniwa Local Council of Jigawa State, resulted in the loss of eight lives and left 15 others injured.

The incident occurred during the late hours of Sunday, involving three commercial vehicles en route to Jajimaji and Hadejia markets, carrying traders.

According to The Guardian, collision involved a Golf, J5, and Hilux (Akuri-kura), all of which were conveying indigenes of Birniwa Local Council.

The crash left a trail of fatalities and injuries, prompting immediate action by the authorities and transport union officials.

The Secretary of Birniwa Branch of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Mal Baba, confirmed the tragic incident and disclosed that the remains of the deceased individuals were taken to their families for burial.

Meanwhile, the injured victims received medical attention at Birniwa General Hospital.

In the wake of this tragedy, Birniwa Local Council Chairman, Umar Baffa, expressed his condolences and attended the funeral of the deceased at Makari village, Fagi Ward.

He also visited the injured at Birniwa General Hospital, taking measures to sponsor those with fractured bones to Nguru Medical Centre for further treatment.

In response to the accident, Chairman Baffa urged commercial drivers to refrain from night driving to prevent similar occurrences and avoid further loss of life.
