Kano’s political landscape may witness significant shifts as Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has predicted that lawmakers from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) will soon defect to the ruling party.
Ganduje made this statement on Sunday during an APC event in Kano, where Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, distributed cars and motorcycles to party members.
Speaking at the gathering held at the Meena Event Centre, Ganduje asserted that NNPP legislators, including senators and members of the House of Representatives, would soon abandon their party for the APC.

“They are coming to our party in thousands,” Ganduje declared. “Very soon, we shall receive many senior officials and legislators, senators among them who will leave the dying NNPP to join our great APC.”
The event was attended by key APC figures, including Kano APC Chairman, Prince Abdullahi Abbas, and Rep. Alhassan Ado Doguwa, who expressed confidence in the party’s prospects for the 2027 elections. Doguwa predicted that the APC would secure victory in Kano before midday on election day.
