Born on January 15, 1978, in Bunkure, Kano State, Dr. Mahmoud’s academic journey reflects her passion for excellence. She attended Bunkure Primary School and Government Girls Science Secondary School, Garko, before proceeding to the College of Art and Remedial Studies, Kano, for her IJMB. She later earned a medical degree from Bayero University Kano in 2005 and completed her residency at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, becoming a consultant family physician and a member of the West African College of Physicians.
Her leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic as Commissioner for Higher Education showcases her ability to handle crises and implement impactful policies. She plays a crucial role in ensuring state-owned tertiary institutions resume academic activities promptly, mitigating disruptions caused by the pandemic.
