KNSG to penalize illegal tree fellers, sand miners

In an effort to address environmental challenges, the Kano State government is actively working towards enacting regulations and laws to penalize individuals involved in illegal tree felling and sand mining within the state.

Dr. Muhammad Khalil, the Managing Director of the Erosion and Climate Change Management Agency, stated this, when he conducted a sensitization visit to Takai, Sumaila, and Albasu Local Government areas about the dangers associated with unauthorized tree cutting.

During the visit, Dr. Khalil expressed the agency’s commitment to extending the awareness campaign to all local government areas in Kano in order to educate communities about the adverse effects of illegal tree felling and to lay the groundwork for the upcoming regulations.
