Kano Agric Sector to Benefit Facelift – Kurawa

The newly appointed Managing Director of Kano State Agricultural and Rural Development Authority (KNARDA), Dr. Farouk Kurawa has said the Kano state Government is committed to repositioning the status of agricultural sector in the state.

Assuming office on Monday, Dr. Farouk explained that the aim of the commitment is to achieve food security and a productive economy in Kano State.

Dr. Kurawa lamented the significant drop in Kano’s agricultural ranking over the years, once being the pride of the nation in the field of agriculture.

“Before now Kano is the talk of the nation when it comes to agriculture but now you only feel the impact of states like Ekiti, Kebbi, Benue and Nigers states among others” he disclosed.

The Managing Director further explained Kano’s soil is fertile and capable of cultivating any crop which the State Government will explore all necessary measures to harness this potential to ensure adequate food supply not only within the state but also to contribute to the nation’s food production.

Dr. Kurawa also recalled Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s campaign promise to transform local farmers from subsistence to commercial farmers, with the vision of enabling them to export their produce to international markets.

“We shall collaborate closely with state and federal authorities to secure the necessary support and resources for Kano’s farmers.” Kurawa added.

Dr. Farouk expressed his gratitude to Governor Abba Kabir for entrusting him with the responsibility of leading KNARDA.

He assured that with his expertise and determination, the agricultural sector in Kano would witness a significant facelift, regaining its position as a key player in the nation’s agricultural landscape.
