Ekanem Ephraim, a doctor with the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital (UCTH), has been abducted by gunmen at her residence.

Speaking with NAN on Friday, Felix Archibong, chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) in Cross River, said the kidnappers disguised as patients to gain access to the doctor’s residence on Thursday.

He said Ephraim was attending to them when they brought out weapons and whisked her away.

“We are sure that they are kidnappers because they have reached out to the family, demanding ransom,” he said.
