The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Nasarawa State has arrested 27 persons in connection with alleged cult-related activities in the state capital, Lafia. According to Mr. Bappa Abbas Muhammed, the commandant of the NSCDC in Nasarawa, the arrests were made as part of efforts to curb the rising menace of cultism in the region. He disclosed this during the parade of the suspected cult members. Usman Danfodio University in Sokoto has denied recent news reports suggesting that its main campus fell victim to a bandit attack. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has revealed its intention to press charges against Nigerian Air Force (NAF) personnel who were recently released on administrative bail by its Kaduna Zonal Command. The Court of Appeal in Abuja has affirmed Hyacinth Alia as the duly elected governor of Benue State. The decision was reached on Monday in response to an appeal filed by Titus Uba, the Peoples Democratic Party candidate in the March 18 governorship election, seeking to overturn the tribunal’s judgment validating Alia’s victory. At least 10 people have been reportedly killed in an Israeli airstrike on the Indonesian hospital in north Gaza. The Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA) has said that nine bodies were recovered from a boat mishap that occurred in Shiroro Local Government Area of the state. The Court of Appeal in Abuja has nullified the election of Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, stating that he was not validly sponsored by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during the March 18 governorship election. Mutfwang of the PDP secured 525,299 votes, while the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Nentawe Goshwe, polled 481,370 votes, leading INEC to declared Mutfwang winner. At least seven persons were killed in a ghastly accident along the Ankpa -Anyigba road in Kogi State on Saturday.
