The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Nasarawa State has arrested 27 persons in connection with alleged cult-related activities in the state capital, Lafia. According to Mr. Bappa Abbas Muhammed, the commandant of the NSCDC in Nasarawa, the arrests were made as part of efforts to curb the rising menace of cultism in the region. The Court of Appeal in Abuja has nullified the election of Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, stating that he was not validly sponsored by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during the March 18 governorship election.
