The Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, has highlighted the importance of youth volunteerism as a pathway to acquiring essential skills and practical experience beyond formal education.
Speaking during a courtesy visit by the Nigerian Red Cross Society, Kano State branch, Comrade Waiya announced plans by the state government to launch initiatives aimed at promoting youth involvement in volunteer programs across various sectors.
The Commissioner noted that participation in such programs would empower young people with skills, enhance their career prospects, and contribute to societal progress.

He also praised the Nigerian Red Cross Society for its remarkable efforts in disaster response and humanitarian services. Comrade Waiya acknowledged his longstanding partnership with the Red Cross Society in the Dala Division and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting their humanitarian activities in Dala and throughout the state.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the Nigerian Red Cross Society, Kano State branch, Alhaji Salisu Idris Sallama, congratulated the Commissioner on his recent appointment and commended him for his unwavering support to the Dala Division. Sallama further announced the Commissioner’s appointment as the Divisional Coordinator of the Dala Local Government Branch of the Nigerian Red Cross Society.

He also disclosed that arrangements are in place to honor Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf during World Red Cross Day, in recognition of his support for the Nigerian Red Cross Society in Kano State.
As a gesture of appreciation, the Nigerian Red Cross Society, Kano State branch, presented a gift to the Commissioner on behalf of its members.
