Kano State Governor, His Excellency Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved 100 hectares of land for the expansion of the Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology, a state-owned institution.
The approval was granted on Sunday, 18th February 2025, during the governor’s inspection of abandoned projects at the university. Governor Yusuf was accompanied by his Deputy, Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo, and other top government officials.
This development was confirmed in a statement issued by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, and made available to journalists.
During the visit, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Musa Tukur Yakasai, conducted the governor around the university and briefed him on the status of abandoned projects.

Governor Yusuf reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to completing all stalled projects, emphasizing the state government’s dedication to revitalizing the institution. He recalled that the university was originally established by Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso during his first tenure as governor to produce middle-level manpower in Science, Technology, and Engineering.
As part of efforts to support the university’s growth, the 100-hectare expansion will accommodate a new Faculty of Engineering and a Senate Building, further strengthening the institution’s capacity.
Reiterating his administration’s commitment to prioritizing education, Governor Yusuf stressed that education remains the foundation of sustainable development and assured continued investment in the sector.
Earlier, Professor Musa Tukur Yakasai appealed to the governor to settle compensation claims for some residents neighboring the university, ensuring a smooth expansion process.
