Kano State’s newly appointed Commissioner for Commerce, Investment, and Industry, Alhaji Shehu Wada Sagagi, has vowed to revamp the state’s economy by creating a conducive environment for foreign investments, driving industrialization, and supporting domestic businesses.

Speaking during the handover ceremony on Thursday, Sagagi outlined his priorities, which include wealth creation, job generation, poverty reduction, and economic diversification.

“Our mission is to restore Kano’s status as the hub of commerce by fostering economic growth and providing opportunities for both local and international investors,” he said.

Sagagi unveiled plans to operationalize government centers, including the Kura center, which he described as critical to job creation and economic activity.

“My vision is for the Kura center to create between 100 and 240 jobs this month alone,” he revealed.

Addressing the challenges faced by industries in Kano, Sagagi applauded the establishment of the Power and Energy Ministry, emphasizing its potential to resolve energy issues and reduce operational costs for small businesses.

He expressed confidence that these initiatives would attract investors and support the sustainable growth of local enterprises.

The new Commissioner pledged to align his efforts with Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s economic agenda, which focuses on innovation, industrial expansion, and job creation.

“This Ministry will be a resource hub for entrepreneurs and a catalyst for Kano’s economic transformation. Together, we will make Kano thrive as a center of commerce and industry,” he declared.

The outgoing Commissioner, Adamu Aliyu Kibiya, now reassigned to the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, extended his best wishes to Sagagi and expressed confidence in his ability to lead effectively.

Alhaji Shehu Wada Sagagi previously served as Chief of Staff in the current administration before his appointment as Commissioner.
