Law and order are the bedrock of harmonious living in every human society.
This necessitated the establishment of judicial system responsible for the enforcement of law and order as well as the settlement of disputes between parties.
One most important organ of the judiciary is the Court that determines cases brought before it using appropriate legal procedures.
In an effort to ensure the proper discharge of its duties, the court gives order(s) to individuals, group, organizations/institutions and state mandating them to refrain or undertake an action before or after judgement.
In line with the above, a federal high court sitting in Kano received a petition seeking for its intervention on matters relating Kano Emirate Crisis as the state House of Assembly passed a bill for the dissolution of the Five Emirates in the state where the court gives an order restraining the Kano state Governor from assenting a bill into and implementing the same law to dissolve the Five existing Emirates in the state, adding that statusqou be maintained. Thus, by this order, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero remained the legitimate Emir of Kano unless decided otherwise in the final judgement by the court. However, the Governor turned blind on the court order and went ahead and signed the bill for immediate implementation which led to the smuggling of the deposed Emir Sunusi Lamido into Gidan Rumfa while the Emir of Kano Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero was away on official assignment.
The state government’s appeal challenging the court order has clearly shown their knowledge of law and its implications. However, the state government and the deposed Emir Lamido refused to obey the court order for reasons best known to them.
Recent development revealed that the deposed Emir Sunusi Lamido Sunusi is planning to wage a new battle by removing and appointing some District Heads in the first week of October. Ironically, those said to have been removed were senior and junior brothers to the present Emir of Kano Alhaji Aminu Aminu Ado Bayero. They include Wamban Kano Alhaji Lamido Sunusi Ado Bayero, Dan Iyan Kano Alhaji Ahmad Ado Bayero, Bauran Kano Alhaji Maje Ado Bayero, Sadaukin Kano Alhaji Auwalu Ado Bayero, Zannan Kano Alhaji Tijjani Ado Bayero, Chigarin Kano Alhaji Ado Ado Bayero and Dan Darman Kano Alhaji Usman Ado Bayero.
It is imperative to note that any attempt to victimize these personalities is tantamount to a wage of war against the law and order which may have series of implications that may undermine the peace and stability of the state.
In view of this, I am advising the state government to as a matter of urgency and in the interest of peace and tranquility, put a stop to this illegality of the highest order. May Allah SWT continue to bless Kano State and Nigeria.
