Angry youths in Gwagwarwa quarters, Nassarawa Local Government Area of Kano at the weekend went on rampage over the death of a 23 year old Yusuf Shuaibu.

Late Shuaibu, a civilian staff of the 465 Nigeria Air Force Hospital medical center in Kano, was allegedly tortured by a military supervisor for alleged insubordination.

Shuaibu’s sudden death after the alleged torture ignited the irate youths who staged a protest, barricaded the road leading to the Airport.

Although, the victim who died at home ostensibly from the excruciating pain sustained after the military torture, the rampaging youths are demanding for justice over the death of Shuaibu.

PeoplesPen24 learnt that the victim developed complications at about 10: 37pm on Thursday night, when he returned from work, vomiting thick blood.

A relative of the victim, Bala told journalists that he had narrated the maltreatment he received from his superior at the hospital over official issue.

According to Bala “On that fateful day when he returned from a night shift, he narrated that he was about to go home when Oga Aminu (the military man) instructed him to perform a particular task.

“After complying, Shuaibu requested money to buy food, as he was exhausted and hungry. In response, Oga Aminu reportedly hit him and left him with injuries”. Bala said Shuaibu was found dead in his room after vomiting blood.

Bala who led the protest called on Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano, Emir of Kano Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, the National Human Rights Commission and Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar to ensure justice is served over the death of Shuaibu.

When contacted, a military officer at the hospital told journalists no official has the mandate to speak with journalists in Kano.

Further effort to get reaction of Mr. Edward Gabkwet, spokesman for the Nigerian Air Force, was fruitless because his phone was switched off as at the time of calling. He did not reply to a text message sent to same phone line either.
