In a horrifying turn of events, Malam Kabiru Mohammed, the esteemed village head of Marke in Dandamisa Ward, Makarfi Local Government Area of Kaduna State, fell victim to a vicious attack by unknown assailants. Suspected to be hired killers, the gunmen struck in the dead of night, infiltrating the victim’s residence around 12:30 am on Thursday.
According to reports, the assailants forcibly evacuated everyone from the compound before embarking on a relentless search for Malam Kabiru.
Despite efforts to conceal himself alongside his elder brother, Tukur Mohammed, within the ceiling, the victim was tragically discovered by the gunmen.
They callously slaughtered him and set the house ablaze, leaving devastation in their wake.
Speaking on the appalling incident, Alhaji Aminu Sani Marke, the councilor of Dandamisa Ward, expressed profound shock and sorrow, revealing that the late village head’s body couldn’t be retrieved due to the inferno that consumed the residence.
He lamented the loss of not just a leader but also valuable assets, estimating the stolen property to be worth millions of naira.
Malam Kabiru Mohammed, aged 30, had been turbaned as the village head of Marke in 2018, marking a promising leadership tenure that was tragically cut short by this senseless act of violence.
Despite the gravity of the situation, the Kaduna State Police Command has yet to issue a statement regarding the incident, leaving the community grappling with unanswered questions and a deep sense of insecurity.
