The embattled National Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje is set for another political persecution as Judicial Commission of Inquiry on public property and assets recovery commence sitting on Monday.
Earlier this month, Governor Yusuf inaugurated two judicial commissions of inquiry (JCI) to investigate instances of misappropriation of public properties and assets, political violence, and missing persons between 2015 and 2023.
During the inauguration of the JCI members, Governor Yusuf pledged to hold accountable anyone found culpable, emphasizing his commitment to uncovering and prosecuting those responsible for political violence in the state before and during previous elections.
The governor urged the Commission to thoroughly investigate cases of misappropriated public properties and assets during the tenure of immediate past administration.
He instructed the commission members to uphold their integrity, remain true to their oath, and serve the people of Kano State by ensuring justice is served.
In a statement by the Commission’s Secretary, Salisu Mustapha, addressed to the Director General Media and Publicity, cited by The Guardian, the commission will commence inaugural sitting at High Court No. 3 within the Audu Bako Secretariat on Monday 29th April, 2024 by 10.am prompt.
Although, Governor Yusuf clarified that the move to investigate Ganduje’s administration was not political motivated but rather a response to the mandate of the people of Kano State, opposition APC has accused the NNPP government of political vendetta.
The APC national chairman is being battling with internal crisis especially from his political ward with issuance of suspension on his membership and counter claims on the membership of those suspending him.
The controversy is taking dimensions on daily basis as litigation and counter legal action have been instituted by Ganduje himself to defend sustain his position in the party. Worsening still, is the raging of angry party members from North Central mounting pressure on Ganduje through protest asking him to vacate the plum for a member from the zone to complete the tenure of Alh. Abdullahi Adamu.
