Amb. Safiya Nuhu, Director, the Centre for Gender Studies, Bayero University, Kano, has stressed the importance of peacebuilding, peacekeeping and peace processing in society.
Speaking on Wednesday in Kano, while celebrating International Day of Multilateralism and Diplomacy for Peace with the theme:” Mentoring young leaders for peacebuilding and inclusive development”, said such will ensure multilateralism and diplomacy to birth slot of milestone.
She said that the centre would collaborate with Community Initiatives to promote peace (CIPP), Mercy Corps under the USAID programme on community development mentor women on peacebuilding.

Speaking on the importance of the day, Nuhu said it has a global significance among youth and peace-making is one of our aspiration.
She noted that mentorship is a care focus of activity and engagement, hence, “last year, we launch mentorship programme exclusively on mentoring women for peace building.”
The director added that this year, we decided to expand the mentoring programme by bridging gaps and bring in various device to aid peace.
Nuhu disclosed that offering mentorship prospect to youth will one day turn us into a better development society.
