Kano State Social Protection Platform (KASSOPP), has called on the government and well-meaning Nigerians to continue supporting the less privileged in the state.

Chairman of the platform, Malam Salisu Yusuf, made the assertion in his Sallah message to the Kano people.

Salisu Yusuf said there is an urgent need for the government and the rich to do more to save vulnerable Nigerians in this time of economic hardship.

“If you notice the situation very well, there is a need for sustainable interventions in the Northern part of Nigeria, because of the poverty that is ravaging people’s lives day by day.

“This factor also contributed to the highest number of out of school children, which stands at 989, 234 as at 2023, by the UNICEF data which is the highest and negatively affecting our development level”, Salisu.

The Chairman of Kano State Social Protection Platform (KASSOPP), seeks government intervention through policies that would help solve the plight of many poor individuals.

“Philanthropic organizations like Dangote Foundation have assisted millions of people across the country, and Kano happens to be the lion’s share, so there is the need for the government to use the necessary apparatus like the State House of Assembly to come up with policies that would focus on addressing the lingering problem eaten-up our people.

“We shouldn’t take the problem of out-of-school children and malnutrition levels for granted, as it would continue to retard our communities in the future”.

KASSOPP highlighted the pressing need for the government to utilize the available resources to stop the menace of the social and economic condition of millions of Nigerians, and urged other philanthropic organizations to support the cause as these mechanisms will work in tackling the dire circumstances faced by vulnerable groups.

The platform promised Kano residents their commitment to advocate for more social protection policies aims at improving the living standard of the people.
