Zamfara State Police Command has confirmed the kidnap of a man identified as Ashiru Nagoma and the abduction of his wife and neighbor in the state.
Spokesperson of the command ASP Yazid Abubakar, said on Tuesday that the incident occured in Buluku, an outskirt of Gusau Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
According to him, the bandits deadly attack left the entire residents of the community in rude shock.
This incident follows a warning by Maiduguri-based security expert, Zagazola Makama, on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), who alerted about bandits infiltrating Gusau town to abduct worshippers during midnight prayers.
Abubakar clarified that the bandits targeted Nagoma, who resisted their attack, resulting in his death and the abduction of his wife and neighbor. He emphasized that the mosque was not attacked, contrary to earlier speculations.
“Our rescue team is on top of the situation and is making frantic efforts to ensure the perpetrators are brought to book and the abducted victims are rescued. An investigation is also ongoing,” Abubakar stated.
This incident recalls a previous abduction case reported by Platinumpost in February, where scores of worshippers were abducted in a mosque in Tsafe town, Zamfara State.
According to a local resident named Garba, the bandits stormed the mosque during the morning prayer, threatening anyone attempting to flee.
