Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has welcomed Muslims into the holy month of Ramadan with commitment to feed 200,000 household.
Senator Barau’s season greeting followed the declaration of Monday, March 11, 2024, as the first day of the holy month by the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III.
In a statement by his spokesman, Ismail Mudashir, the Senator representing Kano North, enjoined Muslims to take good advantage of the blessed month of Ramadan by intensifying prayers to Almighty Allah.
He urged wealthy individuals and groups to support the needy during and after Ramadan as enjoined by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
” I welcome the commencement of this blessed month of Ramadan following the sighting of the crescent. Ramadan is a blessed month to worship Allah, seek forgiveness and support the needy.
” As we all know, this is a period that comes with a lot of rewards and bounties, hence the need for us to include our dear country, Nigeria and leaders in our prayers for the development, well-being and progress of our nation. We have no place like Nigeria. Ramadan Kareem,” he said.
